What is this role?
This is a full-time, on-site Lead AI Engineer & Researcher position on the Human Data team, based in the Bay Area. You will help deliver high-quality data that powers frontier model performance while working closely with post-training and AI tutor teams.
What will you do?
- Build features end-to-end, covering front-end, back-end, system design, debugging, and testing to keep our data platform secure, scalable, and easy to use.
- Develop systems that monitor large-scale data collections and flag quality issues before they affect model training.
- Lead high-priority data collection projects and shape the technical roadmap by connecting model behavior to data distribution and quality needs.

We are looking for engineers and researchers who communicate clearly, thrive in cross-functional settings, and have delivered production web applications in fast-moving environments. Strong experience with TypeScript, Python, Rust, React, Express, and PostgreSQL is essential, as is fluency in English. Background in fine-tuning large language models or linking data quality to model outcomes is a plus.
