AI / Data Science Lead at Block Renovation

The role

We are hiring an AI / Data Science Lead to join us full time in a hybrid capacity. This lead-level position reports directly to the Chief Product Officer and centers on guiding our applied AI and machine learning work from early research through production deployment.

Core responsibilities

• Lead Block’s data science and AI initiatives as the primary subject matter expert, shaping model and prompt design, evaluation, and ongoing optimization for both third-party and proprietary systems.
• Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to translate business objectives into technical solutions and to launch user-facing products that leverage our AI and ML capabilities.
• Build and maintain our AI and LLM Ops infrastructure while advising on data strategy to ensure reliable collection of actionable information that supports research, development, and scaling.

Skills and experience

Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Data Science, or a related technical or scientific field, along with at least four years of hands-on experience building, deploying, and optimizing production models. Demonstrated success defining ML Ops processes and best practices is essential, as is the ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with cross-functional leadership. We value candidates who enjoy early-stage product development, are comfortable with ambiguity, and bring a drive to invent. Industry experience in construction, home improvement, or home services is a plus but not required. All work is conducted in English.
