At Luma, we are building a future where creativity is no longer limited by what one person can imagine alone. Our product is designed to act as a true Creative Partner, helping people explore ideas across every topic that sparks curiosity. We are a small, ambitious team working at the frontier of generative AI, and we are looking for someone who wants to shape how intelligent agents become part of that daily creative process.
The opportunity
We are hiring a Senior AI Agent Engineer to lead the development of our AI Agent workstream. In this role you will define how large language models and visual models come together to power an agent that feels like a genuine creative collaborator. Your work will directly influence the core product experience, giving users new ways to explore, refine, and expand their ideas. You will have a blue-sky mandate to experiment, build, and push the boundaries of what agentic systems can do inside a real product used by millions.
A day in the life
- You will own the architecture and implementation of our AI Agent, experimenting with tool use, reasoning, real-time knowledge, intent understanding, and long-term memory to make the Creative Partner more capable and delightful.
- You will collaborate closely with design, product, and infrastructure teams to ensure the agent matches Luma’s tone while scaling to millions of users with extremely low latency.
- You will partner with our applied research team to integrate new foundation models and GenAI capabilities, turning emerging research into controllable, editable features that work inside an agentic workflow.
Who you are
You have already built production-grade or MVP projects with LLMs and agents, going well beyond basic demos to test and expand their real-world capabilities. You bring at least five years of engineering experience across product-driven environments and have worked in startup settings as either a founder or an early engineer. You are fluent in Python and have a deep understanding of end-to-end backend systems and databases. You are motivated by the chance to apply your skills to a live, creative use case rather than abstract benchmarks.
Strong written and spoken English is required for this role.
