At Agile Space Industries, we are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in orbit. We design, build, and test high-performance in-space propulsion systems that power the next generation of satellites and spacecraft. With headquarters in Durango, Colorado, and facilities in Pennsylvania and Oklahoma, our team is composed of veterans from organizations like NASA, SpaceX, and Blue Origin. We utilize cutting-edge 3D metal alloy printing to rapidly iterate on engine designs within our own purpose-built testing facility. As we continue to take on ambitious defense, civil, and commercial programs, we are looking for a passionate engineer to help us shape the future of space travel.
The opportunity
We are looking for an Additive Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in January 2025. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives on technical ownership and innovation. You will serve as a key member of our design team, where you will guide the additive manufacturing process from initial concept to final flight-ready hardware. By providing expert design feedback and refining our production parameters, you will ensure our propulsion systems meet the rigorous demands of the aerospace industry. You will be based on-site in Durango, working closely with our production team and project managers to bring new engine designs to life.
A day in the life
- You will collaborate with design engineers to optimize parts specifically for additive manufacturing, ensuring every component is built for peak performance.
- You will oversee the complete additive workflow, managing everything from material selection and experimental design to final fabrication and quality validation.
- You will partner with our business development and project management teams to align our technical output with program schedules, budgets, and customer requirements.
Who you are
You are a highly skilled engineer with a deep background in metal laser powder bed fusion. You bring a systemic approach to your work and a passion for solving complex manufacturing challenges. To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications:
- A bachelor’s or advanced degree in an engineering or technical field.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in debugging and improving metal additive platforms.
- Proven expertise in applying Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles.
- Strong knowledge of metallurgy, materials science, and post-processing techniques like heat treatment and subtractive machining.
- Proficiency with CAD and additive data preparation software such as SolidWorks, 3DXpert, or Magics.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and aerospace standards.
- You must be a U.S. citizen to comply with federal regulations.
Why you'll love it here
We believe in supporting our team members both inside and outside of the office. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $100,000 to $140,000. Beyond the compensation, you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
- 100% paid medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- A 401k plan with company matching.
- A flexible and supportive work environment that values diversity and equal opportunity.
