The role
We are looking for a Senior Acquisition Support Specialist to join our team in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This is a full-time, on-site position designed for an experienced professional who can provide high-level guidance on complex acquisition strategies. You will play a vital role in bridging the gap between technical requirements and successful program execution within the Department of Defense landscape.
Core responsibilities
- Advise project and program managers on essential acquisition strategies, including scheduling, budgeting, contracting, and overall program execution.
- Draft and coordinate comprehensive program planning documents that align with the DoDI 5000.02 Acquisition Framework and relevant Air Force and Department of Defense policies.
- Conduct technical and programmatic assessments of contractor milestones to identify risks, track progress, and ensure that all mission requirements are met.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in government systems and program management. We require the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in business management or a related discipline, combined with at least fourteen years of experience in Department of Defense weapon systems acquisitions, program management, or contracts management.
- Deep familiarity with the Planning, Programming, Budget, and Execution process, the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System, and the Major Capability Acquisition System.
- An active security background investigation (T5 or SSBI) adjudicated for SCI eligibility, with a willingness to consent to a polygraph examination and undergo nomination for Special Access Programs.
- Proficiency in English and the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in technical or business management, professional certifications like the PMI PMP, and specific experience in the National Security Space or Space Control mission areas.
Compensation and benefits
The target salary range for this position is $170,000 to $180,000 USD. This range reflects the typical compensation for this role based on your specific experience and professional background.
