At Formlabs, we’re building the tools that make it possible for anyone to bring their ideas to life, from cutting-edge products to life-saving medical devices. Our 3D printing technology powers innovation at more than 50,000 industry leaders worldwide, including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA. We’re a team of hands-on builders, engineers, and innovators reinventing how the world makes physical things, and we’re looking for someone who wants to help shape the future of fabrication.
What is this role?
We’re hiring a 3D Digital Manufacturing Technician to join us full time on an on-site basis in the United States. This mid-level position focuses on preparing, slicing, and optimizing parts for additive manufacturing while ensuring high-quality output and efficient production workflows.
What will you do?
- Prepare and slice CAD models for various 3D printing technologies using slicing software, then optimize print orientation, support structures, and settings to improve quality, efficiency, and material usage.
- Identify potential design improvements using Design for Manufacturing principles to enhance printability and reduce post-processing needs.
- Troubleshoot print setup and orientation issues, analyze failures, and implement effective solutions while collaborating with internal teams and external customers on technical requirements.
What makes you a great fit?
You bring hands-on experience with slicing and print setup software such as PreForm, Cura, Simplify3D, Magics, or Netfabb, along with a solid understanding of additive manufacturing processes and materials. You’re familiar with Design for Manufacturing concepts for 3D printing and have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving printing issues. You work well with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly in English. Experience operating industrial and consumer 3D printers, basic proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Onshape, and familiarity with Python for automating processes are all considered strong assets.
What's in it for you?
This position offers an hourly pay range of $20–$26 USD. In addition, you’ll receive comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, access to 401k plans with low-cost fund options and advisor support, commuter benefits, and ample on-site parking. We also provide healthy on-site lunches, snacks, beverages, and treats, along with regular sponsored professional development opportunities and unlimited 3D prints.
