Founded in 2008 in Stockholm, Trustly was one of the first to see the potential in instant account-to-account payouts. Trustly leadership came to serve as Open Banking advisors to the EU in 2011, which helped lead to the landmark PSD2 regulation which further empowered the technological capabilities of Open Banking. By 2015 the company expanded to 21 new markets and in 2019 Trustly entered the US through a merger with PayWithMyBank.
