GOAL Honduras

GOAL has worked in Honduras since Hurricane Mitch devastated the region in 1998. Initially focused on emergency response and rehabilitation, GOAL has since transitioned to long-term development programs aimed at strengthening civil society to reduce inequality, exclusion, and poverty through participatory local community development. Key program activities include disaster preparedness, food security and livelihoods, provision of basic social infrastructure, and strengthening community organizations. GOAL operates projects funded by the Adaptation Fund to strengthen early warning and action systems in the Central District. The organization employs around 200 people in the Latin America and Caribbean region and implements projects in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Belize, Colombia, Haiti, and El Salvador.
